MBK Film “Pariah” Garners 7 NAACP Nominations!

Pariah, the coming-of-age story of a 17-year old girl by the name of Alike (Adepero Oduye) who struggles to mend her conflicting sexual identity as a lesbian living in Brooklyn, New York has recently received 7 NAACP nominations!

Having premiered at the 2011 Toronto Film Festival and the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. It has since won the Sundance Excellence in Cinematography Award and has received two Best Independent Film awards from the African-American Film Critics Association and the Black Film Critics Circle.  Pariah has also received 13 nominations thus far NOT INCLUDING Pariah‘s NAACP Nominations in:

  • Outstanding Motion Picture
  • Outstanding Directing in a Motion Picture
  • Outstanding Writing in a Motion Picture
  • Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture
  • Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture
  • Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture
